Solar Alliance
At Smultron software house, we are passionate about using technology to create a more sustainable future. That’s why we were thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Solar Alliance, an initiative launched by the European Commission and led by EIT InnoEnergy, aimed at facilitating innovation-led expansion of a resilient industrial solar value chain in the EU. Our goal was to design and implement a website that would showcase the Solar Alliance’s work and activities, making it easy for visitors to find relevant information about the initiative.

We started the project in October 2022, using the information architecture and brand book provided by Solar Alliance as a starting point for our work. Throughout the project, we communicated with the Solar Alliance team using Basecamp, which allowed us to manage the project efficiently and collaboratively.
To achieve our goal, we designed and implemented the website using WordPress as a CMS and Advanced Custom Fields, ensuring that the Solar Alliance team could easily update and manage the website’s content. We also took care of website maintenance, security, backups, and SEO optimization, providing the Solar Alliance team with peace of mind and allowing them to focus on their core mission.
One of the primary objectives of the new website was to build awareness about the Solar Alliance. To accomplish this, we created a design that incorporated elements and colours related to the European Union and the EIT InnoEnergy website, the leader of the Solar Alliance. This approach created a cohesive and visually appealing website that reinforced the Solar Alliance’s identity.
The website’s homepage included a menu and footer, cookies, popups, and a favicon. To create an engaging user experience, we included a hero slider and a call-to-action button, key information about ESIA, a founders module, latest news, and upcoming events. These design elements allowed visitors to quickly and easily find the information they needed about the Solar Alliance.
One of the most important functions of the website was the ability to provide users with quick access to the latest information on events and activities conducted by the Solar Alliance. We also integrated a contact form with HubSpot, ensuring that Solar Alliance could manage and track website visitors’ inquiries efficiently.
Additionally, we managed the website security to ensure that Solar Alliance’s digital presence was always safe and secure. We also optimized the website for search engines, making it easier for people to find Solar Alliance online.
Another section worth mentioning is “Meet our Members”, where users can find the many members who are part of the Solar Alliance community. These members consist of a diverse group of companies, including leading solar panel manufacturers, technology firms, and research institutions from across the European Union. Through this section, visitors to the website can gain insight into the extensive work that these companies are doing to further solar energy technology and research, as well as learn more about their individual missions, visions, and areas of expertise. By highlighting these members, Solar Alliance is not only raising awareness about their work but also promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing among the members themselves, leading to further advancements in the field of solar energy.
Overall, we are proud to have worked with Solar Alliance to create a website that helps them achieve their mission of facilitating innovation-led expansion of a resilient industrial solar value chain in the EU. Our website design and functionalities made it easier for visitors to find and access information about Solar Alliance activities, raising awareness of the initiative.
The website’s responsive design allowed visitors to access information from any device, whether it’s a computer, tablet, or smartphone. The addition of the contact form and PDF files enabled visitors to engage with Solar Alliance and learn more about their activities.
At Smultron software house, we believe that technology can help create a more sustainable future. Our partnership with Solar Alliance is an example of how we can support this mission by building sustainable websites that showcase the initiative’s work and activities. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with Solar Alliance and supporting their mission through the ongoing maintenance and optimization of their website.
