Its purpose is to provide easy access to information about support available at various stages of studies. The portal caters to candidates, students, and graduates who seek advice on support services. It also includes a support calculator and a range of materials, such as videos, articles, and projects, to help solve problems and address related questions.

Knowledge base

The website offers video materials and articles related to accessibility at Polish universities. There are many interesting videos presenting various approaches to disability in the academic environment. These sections aim to raise awareness and knowledge of accessibility in education and encourage active participation in solving problems related to disabilities at universities.

The Support Calculator

An instrument enabling the approximate calculation of financial support that can be obtained during studies at Polish universities. The user provides information concerning their disability, chosen university, and field of study, and the calculator computes the estimated amount of support. The tool aims to assist students with disabilities in planning their student budget and facilitate access to information about available financial support.

Support Search Engine

The search engine features filters that allow selecting specific forms of support available to people with disabilities at Polish universities, including funding for assistants or specialized equipment. These filters enable users to quickly and easily access descriptions of individual support forms as well as links to relevant documents and support materials.

Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1.

The website has been adapted to meet the WCAG 2.1 guidelines for web accessibility for people with disabilities. On the subpages, there are a number of measures aimed at making the site easier to use for people with various disabilities, such as ensuring adequate color contrast, providing alternative descriptions for visual elements, and the ability to navigate using the keyboard. The site also uses semantic HTML elements that make it easier for screen-reading programs to understand the structure and content of the page. All of these measures are aimed at ensuring the greatest possible accessibility of the site for all users, regardless of their individual needs and limitations.

Summary

The project for the website supporting the functioning of people with disabilities took several months and included consultations with visually impaired individuals to ensure that the solutions meet their actual needs. The website was designed and developed in accordance with the latest WCAG standards. Basecamp and Slack were used throughout the project to facilitate effective communication and coordination of the project team’s activities. As a result, we have created a website that we are confident will be accessible to everyone.

The platform was completed according to the agreed schedule and specifications. Communication with Smultron was extremely fast, and they answered all our questions about the work and the functional and technological solutions in detail.
